The Potatoes New Zealand Bursary aims to encourage education, leadership and advancement in the potato industry. It supports students with their tuition and living costs, reducing financial stress for students and families, therefore allowing students to focus on their studies.

Potatoes New Zealand recognises the importance of capacity building, skill development and increasing knowledge about potatoes is important and this is why the Potatoes New Zealand Bursary is open and available for applicants.

Eligibility 

  • Open to applicants whose studies related to and relevant for the potato industry.
  • Applicants must be working or studying in New Zealand and must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. 
  • Investment is not retrospective and must be for a future purpose. 

Application Writing Tips

  • Write in English: Applications in other languages will not be accepted.
  • Check your work: Make sure your answers make sense. Use correct English grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Keep answers concise: Make sure each answer is written in a clear, concise, consistent and compelling way.

Selection Criteria 

Applicants must complete the application form, and demonstrate: 

  • Their commitment and interest in the potato industry. 
  • Relevance to potato industry.
  • Academic excellence, personal drive or relevant professional experience. 
  • Potential for positive impact on the industry. 

A Potatoes New Zealand selection panel will successful bursary applicants and their decision is final with no correspondence being entered into.

Conditions of Entry

  • Potatoes New Zealand Bursary will contribute a maximum of up to $2,000 to an applicant.
  • Training / professional development must be completed within a two year period.
  • Applicants will be required to send quarterly progress reports.
  • Applicants will be required to write and/or present a final report to the Potatoes New Zealand board/staff at the completion of their bursary. This may be used for Potatoes New Zealand promotional purposes.
  • Applicants must be currently studying and/or working in the New Zealand potato industry and are over 18 years of age.

NOTE: Potatoes New Zealand reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the nominations.

If you are successful in gaining a Potatoes New Zealand Bursary, you must agree to providing quarterly updates as well as submitting and/or presenting a report to Potatoes New Zealand about your activities:
