The Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust aims to encourage and support the education, leadership and development of people who have the potential to contribute to a thriving and resilient New Zealand potato industry. It supports students with their tuition and living costs, reducing financial stress for students and families, therefore allowing students to focus on their studies.
The Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust recognises that building capability, developing skills and increasing industry knowledge are essential to the future of New Zealand’s potato sector.
There are up to two Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust Bursaries available each year.
Eligibility
- Open to applicants who are undertaking recognised study, research or training relevant to the potato industry.
- Applicants must be studying in New Zealand and must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Investment is not retrospective and must be for a future purpose.
Applicants must describe how building skills in these areas will increase their ability to positively contribute to the potato industry.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must complete the application form, and demonstrate:
- Their commitment and interest in the potato industry.
- Relevance to potato industry.
- Academic excellence, personal drive or relevant professional experience.
- Potential for positive impact on the industry.
- Judging criteria areas include:
- Academic achievement
- Leadership and community involvement
- Aspirations
- Personal qualities
- Professionalism
- Role model
- The Selection Panel’s decision is final, and no correspondence shall be entered into.
Conditions of Entry
- Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust Bursary will contribute up to $3,000 to an applicant.
- Training / professional development must be completed within two years.
- Applicants will be required to send six monthly progress report (at least 300 words).
- Applicants will be required to write and/or present a final report (at least 500 words) to the Potatoes New Zealand board/staff at the completion of their Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust Bursary.
- This may be used for Potatoes New Zealand promotional purposes.
- Applicants must be currently studying and/or working in the New Zealand potato industry and are over 18 years of age.
- Selection is made by the Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust or an appointed independent panel.
- The Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust may decide not to make an award if applications do not meet the criteria.
- Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust Bursary recipients will receive one lump sum payment following acceptance of the award and receipt of any required evidence. The Bursary may only receive a Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust Bursary once.
NOTE: Potatoes New Zealand Charitable Trust reserves the right to accept or reject any or all of the applications.
