Scott Clelland joined the Potatoes New Zealand Board in October 2024.
He is the Agriculture Manager with McCain Foods, based in Timaru, South Canterbury. Scott has been with McCain since 2000, after he completed a Bachelor of Horticulture Science at Lincoln University. He started at McCain in Timaru as a potato agronomist, and shortly after moved to Feilding, Manawatu working with potato growers in the Manawatu and Central Hawkes Bay 2002-2006. Then Scott moved to Hawkes Bay at the McCain vegetable processing factory working with pea, corn, bean, and carrot production and harvesting in Hawkes Bay. In 2012 he moved back to Timaru as Agriculture Manager working with the great group of Canterbury process, and seed, potato growers, and the agronomy team.
Scott enjoys working in the potato industry with growers, agronomists and all the good people with great attitudes and experience New Zealand has in producing potatoes.
He has also been on the Seed Potato Certification Authority for a number of years and am also involved with the Potato Seed Co-Op. Scott enjoys the outdoors, including biking, hunting, and also enjoy travelling with his family.
