Levy Vote Consultation
PNZ Inc is undertaking a Levy Referendum consultation process. We have conducted a series of grower meetings in both the South Island and the North Island in March. A final meeting is planned tomorrow:

Levy Consultation Meetings Held in March
Levy consultation meetings have been held in March which provided an opportunity for growers to meet the CEO and board members and discuss relevant issues. Attendance reached 44% of the levy Vote. Feedback has been positive and the industry appears in good shape. Feedback has been received on issues and the CEO will be reporting back to the Board of PNZ Inc.

PNZ has prepared a Levy Consultation Document highlighting 30 key achievements over the last 5 years of the Growers’ Levy. Click here to download. Text Alerts – Positive Response
Text alerts were used to notify growers regarding the date, time and location of the meeting in their region. Feedback has been very positive and this form of communication will continue to be used. If you are not receiving text alerts please ring us on 0800 399 674 and we will make sure you are included. If you do not wish to receive these alerts, just reply to the message with STOP, and you will be permanently removed from the list.
Seed Potato Growers Meeting – 11th April 3-5pm Ashburton Hotel
We welcome the attendance of all potato growers to a Seed Potato Growers Meeting on the 11th of April 3 – 5.00 pm at the Ashburton Hotel following the conclusion of the Seed Authority Meeting. Click here for more info. We will have John Fletcher as a guest speaker from Plant & Food discussing the results from the Seed Potato Virus Survey. The agenda for the growers meeting is:
- Potato Seed Virus survey results and farewell to John Fletcher;
- Tuber transmission of Liberibacter;
- Grower feedback on the season and operation of the scheme;
- Proposed rule changes for the 2018-19 season;
- Refreshments to follow.
R&D Update – Tuber Transmission of Candidatus Liberibacter
The Seed Authority commissioned Plant & Food Research to undertake a literature survey on tuber transmission of Candidatus Liberibacter (CLso) and what happens to CLso infection and Zebra Chip symptoms in tubers while in storage. Click here to read.
