Fruitfed Highlights Commitment to Potato Industry Through Research and Technical Support
Fruitfed Horticulture used the recent potato industry event to showcase the significant investment it continues to make in research, innovation, and technical capability to support New Zealand potato growers.
Speaking as a Gold Sponsor, Fruitfed highlighted the breadth of its research and development programme, which has delivered more than 30 potato-focused trials over the past four years. Research has covered a wide range of production challenges, including insect pests, diseases, weeds, nutrition and irrigation.
The company outlined three key reasons for investing in research. The first is supporting new product registrations by generating local efficacy and crop safety data. The second is encouraging innovation through internally proposed research projects that investigate practical grower challenges and new approaches. Thirdly, improving the quality of technical advice through firsthand knowledge gained under New Zealand growing conditions.
Fruitfed also emphasised its commitment to developing industry capability through ongoing staff training and agronomy accreditation, and its internship programme, which provides students with practical experience in horticultural research.
The team at Fruitfed in attendance valued the opportunity to connect with growers, industry partners and researchers at the Agronomy Summit. Sharing knowledge, discussing challenges and learning from one another in this way remains an important part of strengthening the future of potato production in New Zealand.
