Potatoes New Zealand represents and supports the nation’s commercial potato growers and industry partners, working across the supply chain to build a strong, sustainable, and future focused industry.
International Day of Potato – 30 May
On 30 May, we celebrate the International Day of Potato, recognising one of the world’s most important and versatile foods. Potatoes play a vital role in feeding communities across the globe and are one of the few vegetables to have their own United Nations international day.
In New Zealand, potatoes support regional communities and local economies, while providing a nutritious, affordable and much loved food for Kiwi families. The day is a chance to celebrate the people behind the industry and the important role potatoes play in global food security and sustainable agriculture.
