Potatoes New Zealand is proud to support the Hokitika Primary School’s activities at the upcoming 2025 Hokitika Wildfoods Festival. As part of this sponsorship, Potatoes New Zealand supplied 700 potatoes to the school from Canterbury grower Bailey Farming Co Ltd.
The Hokitika Wildfoods Festival, known for its celebration of unique and traditional Kiwi kai, is an iconic event that brings together food lovers from all over the country. This year, Hokitika Primary School will be serving up nutritious baked potatoes as part of their fundraising efforts, offering festival-goers a wholesome and tasty alternative to some of the more exotic festival fare.
“We’re delighted to support Hokitika Primary School and promote the goodness of New Zealand-grown potatoes,” says Kate Trufitt, CEO of Potatoes New Zealand. “Potatoes are an excellent source of energy, fibre, and essential nutrients, making them a great festival snack for all ages.”
The potato donation also highlights the importance of locally grown produce as well as healthy eating and the baked potatoes are a classic Kiwi favourite, easily customised with toppings to suit every taste, from classic butter and cheese to more gourmet options.
Hokitika Primary School is thrilled with the opportunity to be part of the festival’s vibrant atmosphere and the potato contribution has allowed the school to provide a nutritious, warm, and satisfying option for festival-goers as well as supporting the school’s activities.
The 2025 Hokitika Wildfoods Festival will take place on Sunday 8 March, promising a feast of flavours, entertainment, and community spirit. Festival attendees are encouraged to stop by the Hokitika Primary School.
Potatoes New Zealand continues to champion the benefits of potatoes, supporting community initiatives and promoting all things potatoes. With this donation, they are not only nourishing festival-goers but also investing in the future of young Kiwis.
