Potatoes NZ Newsletter #101 – October 2020

by Karen | posted in: Email Newsletter, News & Info |
Share this:

October has flown by with Plan Change Hearings; Hort NZ pursuing government action on seasonal workers; PNZ gathering stories from industry and consumers, including our hospo community; plenty of work in the background with PNZ R&D; as well as our new Information System BELIS build and go-live.
Read in detail the latest news, comms, admin and technical below.

PNZ NEWS
Potatoes New Zealand’s new Biosecurity, Emissions & Levy Information System (BELIS)

All potato businesses will shortly receive an email from our new BELIS system, asking them to login and create a password. Grower members’ records are being updated with a commodity levy payment record, so that accurate recording of commodity levy collection is achieved. This updating process also includes agents now submitting their levy payments on-line, completing the sales-levy loop. Depending on the email recipient’s role and responsibility, they will be able to see the current financial year’s levies in their membership account.
Read about the launch here.
Next steps for growers:
The database is planned to go live at the end of October after a grower testing phase
Growers will receive an email inviting them to login to the membership database
Administrative support will be available through Nicola Loach (PNZ Admin Officer)
Depending on role and responsibility, growers will initially be able to see and check Buyer Created Invoices (BCI) levies and update staffing and contacts information.

Regional Plan Change Updates
Horizons PC2 & ECAN PC7
PNZ presented at the hearings this month along with several potato growers and processors.
Any queries contact Chris.Claridge@potatoesnz.co.nz.
Waikato PC1
PNZ did not submit on this Plan Change, but the PNZ board have decided to appeal PC1 in addition to the Hort NZ appeal
PNZ will carry out 3 case studies of FEPs and consent process in Pukekohe, to determine the technical difficulties that Waikato PC1 presents our industry, in order to support any appeal to Waikato Council
View Waikato PC1 FAQs in the Plan Changes section on our webpage here or direct download here.

PNZ Process Sector Recovery
The anti-dumping tariff application was submitted on 3rd July 2020, we were then asked to submit a revised application 2 months ago and we are now awaiting MBIE’s decision.
