We’ve had fantastic attendance and feedback at our May grower insights meetings, thanks to all who came. Notes on the issues, opportunities and actions will be emailed to all concerned this week. We are keen to complete our round of grower meetings with the Horowhenua and surrounds meeting on the 8th June. We are grateful for Fruitfed’s/Daniel Sutton’s team-effort to bring the Ohakune contingent down to join us in Palmerston North.

Potato Tuber Moth programme is getting into gear with field and shed walks, followed by a meeting. See event listing for details.

Biosecurity
Fall Army Worm has landed in Waikato, at this stage with warnings to corn and maize growers. Growers across the North Island are being urged to keep a close eye out for caterpillars on volunteer maize and corn plants. Fall armyworm adults are nocturnal and most active during warm, humid evenings. Any suspicious finds can be reported via MPI’s online report form the https://www.findapest.nz/ app or the Pest and Disease hotline (0800 80 99 66).
