Please contact nppbhagf@cbgngbrfam.pb.am for details. Potatoes NZ Inc. 2023 draft Strategy We’re almost finished the draft 2023 PNZ Strategy and Plan. The next step is a board review of the draft. If you are a grower and you feel that there are essential activities missing from our current plan, please contact Gemma by mid-November. The 2022 version can be found on our website here. EPA Decisions The EPA has released its decisions regarding diazinon, fenamiphos and methamidophos. The full decision can be read here: https://www.epa.govt.nz/assets/FileAPI/hsno-ar/APP204199/APP204199_Decision.pdf The key points are as follows: The approval for fenamiphos is unchanged and will expire on 1 July 2023 The approval for methamidophos has been extended by one year to 1 July 2024. After this date, you are not allowed to use either of these. Any excess product that you have left at these dates must be disposed of by 1 July 2025. GHG emissions Public consultation on the Government’s response to He Waka Eke Noa is now underway. Summary of the consultation More information Submit here The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is holding a webinar for farmers, about the proposal to introduce a farm-level levy on agricultural greenhouse emissions from 2025. PNZ TECHNICAL Latest activity Potato Cyst Nemotode reminder Potato growers (certified seed) are reminded of the importance of providing to PNZ and the IVA’s, accurate production site maps showing GPS coordinates, correct ROP farm site identification and the cultivar(s) grown. PNZ also advise that it is advantageous for growers to opt for pre-plant soil sampling. This season PNZ are onsite assisting growers with completion of PCN documentation. Accurately completed PCN documentation will then be transferred to PNZ certified seed field entry documentation. You can contact Cyril or Iain with any questions.
